Bringing in the New Year - a Style Story (with Bunny, Creek, Tyde, Candy)

New Year's eve was upon him, Kyle thought to himself as he looked out his bedroom window. He'd be attending a party at Kenny's apartment soon, he was just waiting for Stan to drop by. It seemed that they were the only two people in South Park to not be in relationships, so they decided to show up at the party together. Stags alone together. Kyle sighed. He wished he was really going with Stan to the party; he wanted nothing more than to kiss Stan when the clock struck midnight. But he was rather sure Stan wouldn't exactly be receptive to that; the only person Stan had dated was Wendy, who was a girl. Kyle just so happened to be of the male variety of human, which Kyle was rather certain was not Stan's preference.

A honk from Stan's car alerted Kyle to the fact that it was time to leave. Kyle grabbed his coat and ran to the door, shouting a hurried goodbye to his parents and Ike. As he ran to the car, he caught Stan's eye and grinned. Even after all these years, they were still as close as they always were, if anything closer than ever.

'Hey Ky,' Stan greeted with a smile. 'You ready?'

'Obviously, I'm getting in your car, aren't I?' Kyle rolled his eyes.

'Yeah, but apparently Kenny's got one hell of an evening planned,' Stan chuckled.

'Oh joy,' Kyle rolled his eyes. 'Well, let's get this over with then.'

'Don't worry dude, I'll protect you from whatever Kenny's got planned for us,' Stan smiled and patted Kyle's shoulder.

'Thanks dude, that's so kind of you,' Kyle rolled his eyes. 'I'll be fine, I just don't… I guess it's just a little sad to see another year ending. Alone, you know…'

'You're not alone, Ky, you've got me,' Stan smiled.

Kyle sighed. He just wished he had Stan the way he wished he did.

Kenny's party wasn't as bad as Kyle had thought it might be. Despite being warned by most people that Kenny apparently had an idea for the party, nothing unexpected had happened.

'Okay you guys,' Kenny said, grabbing everyone's attention. 'We've got a couple minutes to midnight. Make sure you're next to your special someone when the countdown starts so you can start the new year off right!'

Everyone resumed talking amongst themselves and Kyle looked around the room. Clyde and Token were the first to get together, and they appeared to be closer than ever, cuddling together on Kenny's sofa. Craig and Tweek were leaning against the wall, a coffee cup in Tweek's hands, as always, Craig with a steadying hand on Tweek's hands to stop him dropping his coffee. Cartman and Wendy were in a world of their own, making out in the corner. Pip and Damien had come up from hell for the party, apparently Kenny was in hell enough to become good friends with both of them, and Pip was talking passionately to Damien about how much he enjoyed Kenny's special brew of coffee, it was a testament to how much Damien loved Pip by how intently he was listening. Bebe and Bradley Biggle were dancing along to the music from Kenny's stereo and Kevin Stoley, who'd somehow managed to find a girlfriend who was, if possible, even nerdier than him, was talking Star Wars with her, as they compared their collectible lightsabers. Kenny had Butters, wherever Kenny was, it appeared that Butters was looking for Kenny amongst the revellers. Kyle sighed. It appeared everyone had someone but him.

'Stan?' Kenny appeared out of nowhere behind Stan. 'Can I talk to you for a second?'

'Uh, sure dude,' Stan allowed himself to be led away by Kenny. Kyle sighed and sat down on the nearest chair. It was sort of depressing being alone on New Year's eve.

'What is it Kenny?' Stan asked when Kenny had led him away from Kyle.

'I think you should kiss Kyle tonight at midnight,' Kenny said without preamble. 'He really likes you dude, and I know you like him too. So I think you should kiss him.'

'Huh? He likes me?' Stan asked.

'Maybe like isn't the right word… more like love,' Kenny shrugged.

'Really?' Stan looked positively gleeful. 'Thanks Kenny!' he made his way back to Kyle quickly.

'You're welcome, dudes,' Kenny smiled to himself and went to find Butters before the countdown to midnight began.

'It's time for the countdown, everyone!' Kevin's girlfriend Amber told everyone. 'Come on, let's start at ten!'

'Nine! Eight! Seven! Six! Five! Four!'

Kyle looked around. It appeared that everyone was getting ready for the big midnight kissfest. He sighed, and joined into the countdown with a dull voice.

'Three! Two! One!'

Everyone around him erupted in cheers, before they all kissed. Kyle had meant to share an eye roll with Stan, but when he turned to Stan, Stan grabbed him and kissed him.

'Happy New Year Kyle,' Stan whispered with a smile as he pulled away slightly.

'What?' Kyle gaped at his super best friend.

'I love you,' Stan said quietly. 'And I wanted to bring the New Year in right.'

Kyle smiled and kissed Stan again. The room around them erupted in more cheers.

'You were right, Kenny,' Wendy said with a smile.

'Ooh, they make such a cute couple,' Amber giggled.

'They do!' Bebe agreed with her own girlish giggle.

'Fangirls,' Cartman rolled his eyes.

Stan and Kyle were oblivious the people around them, they were far too immersed in their own little world. It was the best start to the new year either of them could hope for.
